Doug Honeyford
Many of us have found this past Winter far too long... Spring is upon us with renewal and this is a wonderful time of the year. Time to plant some flowers, and plant some great ideas and set some plans for your UCT North America Council.
First and foremost, make a plan to be with us in Columbus at the Convention during the week of July 13 and I promise you will not only enjoy being with your old friends, but you will pick up an idea or two that can assist in revitalizing your Council and Region. David Knapp will have all the details for you shortly.
For your Council’s plans, consider sponsorship of a youth baseball or soccer team, outfit them with UCTNA uniforms, attend some games, get community recognition, and perhaps get a new member or two.
Perhaps you could organize a “Charity Golf Tournament” – 4 or 5 Members can secure a course, contact hole sponsors, acquire prizes and silent auction items and line up 24 Foursomes. Select a needy charity and your result will be in the range of $10,000. It's great publicity and perhaps get a new member or two.
Most communities have an “Adopt a Road” or clean-up project. Partner with a youth group, Scouts, a swim club, 4-H Club, etc. A few members can supervise and it is a great project to get recognition and do a good deed.
Look for the needs in your Community. Often with little effort and a phone call or two your council can join in an effort to make your little corner of the world a better place for everyone. Awareness can help your Council grow. Your imagination is the seed.
Fraternally yours,
Doug
